At the Tahai complex, Claudio explains the foundation for the boat house in the foreground.

The boat house was named for its shape, which resembles the bottom of an upside-down boat. The walls & roof were sticks & thatching with the base of the sticks placed in the indentations that can be seen in the stone foundation.

In the background, Ahu Ko Te Riku is distant center, Ahu Tahai right, and Ahu Vai Uri with 5 maoi to the left.

The Ahu is the stone platform for the moai.
